There are numerous hundred foot headlands to traverse on this hike, affording transcendent views of our Olympic Coast. This scene was on the first headland south of Point of the Arches. Patterns created by languid, Art Nouveau loops and roiling patches of foam attracted me. The great depth of the vista and the quintessentially Pacific Northwest shade of celadon in the water were thrilling to me. Although this portion of the hike was on an overcast June day, I shifted the palette and mood of this painting subtly toward a more Autumnal mood.
