Artist Statement:

I had seen this boat "on the hard" in the late morning on the day before I painted it. I knew I wanted to get those shadows in the same spot with the same intense color. So I got out to the boat haven early and tucked into an out of the way spot. I layed in the drawing and large shapes and then just as I got to the part where I was to paint the shadows of the bumpers - voila! - the sun came out and threw the light exactly where I wanted it!
