Artist Statement:

This piece is a studio painting based on a plein-air study. When I had gone out to paint the estuary with it's sculptural mud flats, the tide was just beginning to return. Rather engrossed in my painting effort, I timed the return from my reverie precisely. The water was fast approaching the top of the bank. Time to pack up and move on!
